What is a Guardian Home?

At Must Love Doodles, we know that Doodles are social animals that love and adore their families are not happy unless they are with them. Of course, we would love to keep adding family members to our pack, but we know this is not the best way to grow our program. To ensure that our future moms and dads get the one on one attention and devotion they deserve, we sometimes place them in a loving home environment that will be their forever home from the time they are young puppies. This gives Must Love Doodles the ability to maintain the highest quality care for our future moms and dads and ensure that they are living their best life!

Why Would I Want to be a Guardian Home?

Our Guardian Families are an important part of our program. While you do get a top quality amazing puppy free of charge, that should not be the reason for becoming a part of our program. We look for families that understand how much joy their puppy has brought their family and are willing to spread the love by sacrificing time away from their momma when she comes to us to whelp and raise her puppies. Families are given a stipend for each litter and legal ownership of the dog is transferred once their breeding career is over (maximum of 4 litters for females).

How Do I Become a Guardian Home?

Our Guardian Families are chosen very carefully and must meet all of the requirements before applying.

-Must live within one hour of Must Love Doodles

-Be willing and able to bring the dog to the vet or to us as needed for testing and breeding purposes

-Must have previous dog experience

-Must not have any other intact dogs in the home

-Must have a fully fenced yard or agree to take the dog out on a leash at all times

-Agree to never leave the dog outside unattended

-Agree that the dog will not be left alone for extended periods of time

-Must be willing to train basic obedience commands

-Must ensure that the puppy is socialized with humans and other animals

-Must provide appropriate veterinary or emergency care when needed

-Agree to feed the same quality dog food that we feed our dogs and puppies

-Must be able to identify the onset of heat cycles and notifiy us immediately

-Must not allow a female in heat near intact males

-Must not allow the female/male to breed with any dog

-Must communicate, cooperate and coordinate with us regarding breedings

-Must share regular updates and pictures
